1. How to Cook

I’m excited to share these with you guys!! Especially because it’s no secret that when it comes to breakfast recipes, more times than not, I’m going to share something on the sweeter side. It’s not that I don’t love a savory breakfast recipe, because I do. It’s more that I enjoy sweet breakfast recipes in the morning and savory eggs for lunch or dinner…but that’s just me! Anyway, the point is, I rarely share savory breakfast recipes, so I’m overly excited to share these.

2. Easy recipe

How cute are these recipes? When I set out to make these, I really wasn’t sure how they would turn out. But I ended up loving the recipe! Sometimes I go into a recipe very unsure about it. But it’s the best when I’m presently surprised by the outcome…just love when that happens! And, these cakes couldn’t be easier to make or more delicious.



Main ingredients


  • 3 cups Plain flour / self-raising flour
  • 3/4 cup cold grated butter (170g)
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped ham
  • 3/4 cup mil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 Degrees Celsius.
  2. In a large bowl sift in flour, baking powder, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and rub it with your fingertips until you get a sand-like texture. Then add cheese, and green veggie of your choice, and whisk.
  4. Add the egg and cold buttermilk then gently mix the wet and dry ingredients together.
  5. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Gently bring it together using your hands and flatten it out.
  6. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out the dough.
  7. Slightly brush each dough piece with an egg white.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown on top.

Notes

If you are using self raising flour just add 1 tsp baking powder. 3/4 cups means 1/4 cup x 3 . Not 3 to 4 cups .
